The first batch of tickets for the crucial World Cup match between India and Pakistan, scheduled for October 14th in Ahmedabad, were snapped up within an hour of opening during a special pre-sale window by ICC’s ticketing partner ‘Book My Show’. Furthermore, another round of general sale for the India-Pakistan match is set to take place on September 3rd. It is expected that tickets for this round will also be sold out within a few hours, much like what happened for all Mastercard holders on Tuesday.
While the exact number of tickets that were available for online purchase during the pre-sale window for all Indian matches and practice games is unconfirmed, it has been learned that the sale commenced according to Indian time and was completed within an hour of opening at 6 pm. All the tickets were sold out that day.
The website ‘Book My Show’ labeled the Pakistan game as ‘Sold Out’, which was not the case for the other eight Indian matches. A source from the BCCI stated, “Tuesday’s sale was only for those with Mastercards (credit or debit, Indian or International). Two tickets were allowed per person, and the tickets that were kept for the pre-sale were naturally bought within an hour by eager fans.”
The source further mentioned that another round is expected on September 3rd. The best part is that Narendra Modi Stadium has a capacity of 132,000. So, there is hope for a good number of tickets to be sold on September 3rd. For all Indian matches, including the ICC semi-finals and finals, only two tickets per person are allowed, while for non-India matches, up to four tickets per person can be booked.
