India’s Discontent Spurs Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Reevaluate Relations

After India’s dissatisfaction and several tough measures, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is now in the spotlight. However, Trudeau remains steadfast in his previous claims. Amidst it all, he has extended an olive branch to work with the Indian government, taking the allegations seriously and urging justice to prevail.

“We are not seeking to provoke or create problems,” Trudeau said. He emphasized that India’s significance in the world is growing, and Canada needs to collaborate with India not just regionally but globally. “We are not contemplating creating tensions or issues, but we are resolute in upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the Canadian people. Therefore, we call upon the Indian government to work with us to uncover the truth, ensure justice, and address this matter in a responsible manner.”

Involvement in a Citizen’s Murder is Unacceptable

Trudeau emphasized that it is our duty as a rule-of-law nation to ensure that all investigative processes are rigorous and independent. “We stand for the international rules-based order, and we are highlighting how unacceptable it would be for any nation to be involved in the murder of one of our citizens on our soil. We want India to stand with us and assist in bringing the truth to light.”

International Rules-Based System Holds Significance

He stated, “I said on Monday that it is for very credible reasons that we consider it extremely important that India, as a country with a strong and independent judicial system, allows these justice processes to unfold honestly. I can assure you that the decision to share these allegations was not taken lightly in the House of Commons. It was done with the utmost seriousness.”

Approached the Matter with Utmost Seriousness

The Canadian PM further noted, “I believe it is of paramount importance that we have a strong and independent justice system as a country that values the rule of law. We permit those justice processes to take place with full transparency. We want to work with the Indian government to bring transparency, accountability, and justice to this matter. Law governs our land. We will continue to work to keep Canadians safe and uphold our values.”

India, Work with Us and Stand with Us: Trudeau

Trudeau revealed that he had a direct and frank conversation with Prime Minister Modi in which he shared his concerns without reservation. “We urge the Indian government to work with us earnestly to bring transparency, accountability, and justice to this matter. We have the rule of law in our country. We will continue to work to keep Canadians safe and uphold our values.”
