India vs. Nepal Asia Cup Match Hangs in the Balance Amid Rain Threat

The fifth match of the Asia Cup between India and Nepal is scheduled to be played at the Pallakele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. This match in Group E is a make-or-break situation for India, which had to settle for a tie against Pakistan in their first match due to rain. The match between India and Pakistan in Kandy was canceled due to rainfall, resulting in both teams receiving one point each. Pakistan’s team advanced to the Super 4 with three points in two matches, while the Indian team is hanging by a thread.

All Indian batsmen, except Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya, failed to perform against Pakistan. The Indian team is focused on making a strong comeback against Nepal. Pakistan had convincingly defeated Nepal by 238 runs in the tournament’s first match. Therefore, facing India will not be easy for Nepal. However, cricket fans are once again not receiving good news. Rain may disrupt the India-Nepal match just as it did in the India-Pakistan match.

Weather Forecast:

There is an approximately 60% chance of rain in Kandy on Monday morning. Consequently, the outfield may be wet, and there could be interruptions during the match. However, at the time of the toss (scheduled at 2:30 PM IST), there is only a 22% chance of rain, which may continue until around 6 PM. Rain becomes more likely later in the evening, with a 66% chance during the latter part of the match. This raises concerns that the India vs. Nepal match might also be limited, similar to the India-Pakistan encounter.

What’s at Stake in the Super 4 Scenario for India:

India’s match against Nepal is a do-or-die situation. A win against Nepal would secure India’s spot in the Super 4. If India loses, Nepal will advance to the next round.

Even if the India-Nepal match is canceled due to rain, India will be awarded one point, bringing their total points to two. In this case, India will make it to the next round.
