ICC Releases Latest T20 Rankings: Suryakumar Yadav Claims Top Spot Among Batsmen

The ICC has unveiled its updated T20 rankings. In the batsmen’s rankings, India’s star Suryakumar Yadav has secured the top position. He achieved this rank after his impressive performance during the T20 World Cup last year. Since then, he has consistently delivered outstanding performances. Additionally, there has been a significant surge in Shubman Gill’s T20 ranking. He has jumped up by 43 places in the batsmen’s rankings. These rankings were released after the T20 series between India and West Indies.

Shubman Gill’s Ranking Improves

Suryakumar Yadav scored a total of 166 runs in four matches against the West Indies during the T20 series, including two half-centuries. His excellent performances have earned him the top spot in the rankings. His rating is 96 points higher than Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, who is in second place. Suryakumar’s rating stands at 907 points, while Rizwan’s rating is 811 points. Pakistan’s Babar Azam holds the third position with a rating of 756 points. Aden Markram of South Africa and Riley Russo are in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has made a significant leap of 25 places, now ranking 25th among the batsmen. He scored 102 runs in the T20 series against the West Indies, including a match-winning knock of 77 runs in the fourth T20.

Shubman Gill Breaks into Top 5 ODI Batsmen

In the ODI rankings, there haven’t been major changes, except for Shubman Gill making his entry into the top 5 batsmen. With a two-place improvement, he has secured a position among the top five ODI batsmen. Currently, the top five ODI batsmen are Babar Azam, Rassie van der Dussen, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, and Virat Kohli from India holding the ninth position.

West Indies Players’ Rankings Improved

West Indies clinched a bilateral T20 series victory against India after six years. They defeated India 3-2 in the five-match T20 series. Several players contributed significantly to the West Indies’ triumph. Brandon King’s impressive knock of 85 runs in the fifth T20 match played a pivotal role. His ranking jumped by five places, securing the 13th position among batsmen. Nicholas Pooran, who scored a total of 176 runs in the series, also made notable contributions and was named the Player of the Series. His ranking improved by one spot to 15th. Romario Shepherd, who played a crucial role in India’s downfall with his bowling, improved by three places, reaching the 11th spot in the T20 bowlers’ rankings.

Kuldeep Yadav and Shai Hope Make Gains

Kuldeep Yadav, India’s chinaman spinner, took six wickets in the series against West Indies and improved by 23 places to secure the 28th position in the T20 bowlers’ rankings. West Indies’ Romario Shepherd, who inflicted early blows on India’s batting lineup, moved up by 20 places to reach the 63rd position. Additionally, his all-rounder ranking improved, placing him at the 19th spot.

T20 Bowlers’ Rankings

In the T20 bowlers’ rankings, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan holds the top spot. Australia’s Josh Hazlewood is in second place, followed by Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka in third place and Mahesh Tikshna in fourth place. England’s Adil Rashid is in fifth place.

T20 All-rounders’ Rankings

Shakib Al Hasan holds the top spot in the T20 all-rounders’ rankings. India’s Hardik Pandya is in second place, followed by Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi in third place. Pakistan’s Shadab Khan is in fourth place, while Wanindu Hasaranga holds the fifth position.
