The state of Uttarakhand is expected to experience heavy rainfall for the next three days starting from Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, Tehri, and Bageshwar districts on August 22. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Udham Singh Nagar, and Pithoragarh districts.
Director of the Meteorological Centre, Vikram Singh, stated that a red alert for rainfall has been issued for August 23 and 24 in Tihri, Dehradun, Pauri, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar districts. He mentioned that there is a likelihood of intense rainfall across all regions of the state during these three days.
Schools to Remain Closed in Several Blocks of Tehri District
In Tehri district, schools, colleges, and anganwadi centers will remain closed on Tuesday in the Chamba, Bhilangna, Kirtinagar, Devprayag, Jaunpur, and Narendra Nagar block areas. The District Magistrate, Mayur Dikshit, provided this information. Due to the landslide over Chamba Taxi Stand in Tehri district, the Chamba-Nai Tehri motor route has been affected. Keeping in view road disruptions and the risk of landslides, the DM directed the Chief Education Officer to keep all schools in Chamba Nagar area closed on August 22.
