Government Launches Prime Minister Vishwakarma Skill Honor Scheme

The Indian government has initiated the ‘Prime Minister Vishwakarma Skill Honor Scheme’ on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti. According to the government, this scheme will benefit a significant section of skilled workers. To avail of the benefits of this scheme, it is essential to understand the eligibility criteria and the application process.

Who Is Eligible?

The following categories of people are eligible for the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Skill Honor Scheme:

  • Blacksmiths, barbers, weavers, tailors, locksmiths, carpenters, sculptors, stone carvers, ironsmiths, goldsmiths, stonebreakers, cobblers, shoe manufacturers, doll and toy makers, boat builders, fishing net makers, basket/weaving mat/broom makers, and hammer and toolkit manufacturers.

How to Apply?

If you belong to any of the eligible categories mentioned above, you can apply for this scheme by visiting your nearest Jan Seva Kendra (public service center). The officials at the center will verify your eligibility and guide you through the application process.

Make sure to carry the following documents when applying:

  • Aadhar card
  • Identity proof
  • Residence certificate
  • Caste certificate
  • Mobile number
  • Passport-sized photo
  • Bank account passbook.

Benefits of the Scheme:

If you are associated with the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Skill Honor Scheme, you will receive the following benefits:

  • Basic and advanced training
  • A stipend of ₹500
  • An advance of ₹15,000 for tools
  • Incentives for beneficiaries
  • A loan of up to ₹1 lakh without security, which must be repaid within 18 months. Subsequently, you can avail loans up to ₹2 lakh with a 5% interest rate.

This scheme aims to empower skilled workers and provide them with opportunities for training and financial support, ultimately enhancing their livelihoods.
