Delhi Metro and DTC Gear Up for Raksha Bandhan Rush with Special Preparations

In anticipation of Raksha Bandhan, Delhi Metro has made special preparations to ensure passenger convenience. In addition to running extra metro trains, several trains have been stationed at standbys, allowing for quick deployment onto the tracks in case of increased passenger crowds. The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has also taken measures to accommodate the festive rush by deploying more CNG and electric buses. Additional buses will be deployed on routes with higher demand to ease the travel for passengers.

On Raksha Bandhan, sisters traditionally tie a protective thread around their brothers’ wrists. In recent years, the Delhi Metro has experienced a significant surge in passenger numbers during this festive period. Recognizing this trend, the decision was made to operate 106 extra trains on Wednesday, a higher count compared to regular days. To manage the heavy footfall, extra staff will be deployed at all stations, and additional ticket counters will be opened as well. Special arrangements have been made for train frequencies and timings. Ticket counters for extra tickets will be open throughout the day. Customer facilitation agents will be present at major metro stations to assist and guide passengers. Continuous monitoring will be in place to ensure smooth operations.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has also taken measures to facilitate passengers. To accommodate the rush of commuters, especially in popular areas, DTC has increased the frequency of buses on certain routes. Additionally, in light of the increasing popularity of the Delhi Metro, the system recorded a new milestone on Monday with 68.16 lakh (6.8 million) passengers using the metro service. This surpassed the previous record of 66.18 lakh daily passengers, which was achieved on February 10, 2020. The DTC attributes this record-breaking achievement to the dedication of its employees and the support of the residents of Delhi-NCR, reflecting the public’s trust in the world-class transportation system.

The preparations highlight the efforts of Delhi’s transportation authorities to ensure a smooth and convenient commuting experience during the festive season.
