The rainfall saga continues in Dehradun today, causing disruptions to daily life. The hill station of Mussoorie has been hit particularly hard by heavy rainfall, leading to chaotic conditions for residents and visitors. Meanwhile, at around 3 PM, a landslide occurred near a hotel on Mall Road, posing a threat to pedestrians. Fortunately, pedestrians managed to avoid the debris, narrowly escaping harm. Moreover, the region has also experienced a drop in temperatures since the onset of rain, coupled with a veil of mist shrouding the area.
Imminent Heavy Rainfall
Alert There is a looming forecast of heavy rainfall for two days across the state. Bikram Singh, the Director of the Meteorological Centre, revealed that a red alert has been issued for eight districts – Tehri, Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar for August 23 and 24. Additionally, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, and Almora have been put on yellow alert status.
He emphasized that a significant amount of intense rainfall is anticipated throughout the state during these two days. In the past couple of days, various areas have already been affected by heavy rainfall, impacting daily life. Moreover, incidents of landslides have surged due to the continuous rainfall.
