Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the first flight service from Lucknow to Varanasi on Thursday. Launched by IndiGo Airlines, this service will connect Varanasi and Lucknow in just 55 minutes. During an event held at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, the Chief Minister mentioned that the effort to connect the state capital with the country’s spiritual capital is commendable and was much needed. This service will fulfill the commitment of the Prime Minister’s Udan Scheme, which aimed to enable even the common man wearing flip-flops to undertake air travel.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister extended gratitude to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and IndiGo Airlines on behalf of the state’s public. He highlighted that the demand of entrepreneurs, businessmen, representatives, enlightened society members, and those visiting the Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi has now been met. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Varanasi has achieved new heights in spiritual, cultural, and physical development. Hence, the connection between Varanasi and Lucknow was essential. Notably, Varanasi Airport served around 19 lakh passengers in 2016-17, but the numbers have risen to over 25 lakh in the year 2022-23.
