Canada Concerned by India’s Travel Advisory! Softens Stance After Receiving Strong Response, Now Appeals for Peace

Amidst escalating tensions between India and Canada in recent days, Canada has softened its stance and has appealed for peace. Canada had recently issued unsolicited advice to its citizens, advising them to avoid travel to certain states in India. In response, the Indian government also advised its citizens to refrain from traveling to Canada. Furthermore, India temporarily suspended visa services for Canadian citizens until further notice.

The recent events stemmed from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s statement in the Canadian Parliament, where he made serious allegations against India regarding the assassination of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. This led to a bitter exchange of words between the two countries, resulting in the expulsion of diplomats from both sides.

Canada’s decision to advise its citizens on travel to India’s specific regions caused a stir. However, recent developments indicate a slight thaw in Canada’s stance, with Canadian leaders now appealing for calm.

The assassination of the Khalistani extremist leader has strained relations between India and Canada. Both countries have taken strong measures, including the expulsion of diplomats, in response to these allegations. While Canada had initially cautioned its citizens against traveling to India, India reciprocated by advising its citizens against travel to Canada. India also temporarily suspended visa services for Canadian citizens.

Canada’s Foreign Minister, Marc Miller, emphasized that traveling to Canada is entirely safe and stated that Canada is one of the world’s safest countries. He urged everyone to remain calm amid the recent events and allegations. While refraining from making any comments on the ongoing investigation, Canada’s Minister of Public Safety, Sean Fraser, acknowledged the seriousness of the matter and confirmed that Canadian investigative agencies are actively looking into it.
