In an unfortunate incident on Wednesday afternoon, unidentified assailants on motorcycles shot at a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader outside his residence in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place in the Vijay Nagar Colony Nagla Dhani Basti area, which is the residence of former Uttar Pradesh BJP Mahamantri Rakesh Kushwaha. The leader was standing outside his house when two assailants arrived on a bike and fired shots at him. Following the gunshots, the assailants fled the scene.
The victim, Rakesh Kushwaha, sustained gunshot wounds in his shoulder and abdomen, causing him to collapse at the scene. The sound of the gunshots prompted his family members and nearby residents to rush to the scene. Rakesh was immediately taken to the hospital, where he is reported to be in a critical condition.
The incident has raised concerns as it occurred in the vicinity of CCTV cameras. The local police are currently examining the CCTV footage to gather more information about the attackers.
Suraj Rai, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) City, stated that there had been a pre-existing family dispute involving the injured individual. The possibility of the shooting being related to this dispute is being investigated. Meanwhile, residents of the locality revealed that there had been a property dispute involving Rakesh, which could potentially be linked to the attack.
