Kolkata Bomb Blasts
August 4 | Posted by Ankit | IndiaAtleast 4 killed and 6 injured in the blast that took place at Sarbamangala Ghat in north Kolkata also known as Calcutta last night. The blast took place around 6 PM, was caused by the explosion of a gun shell in a garbage dump in the area.
Acordding to The police officials the blast took place when rag-pickers were rummaging through the garbage for plastic bags. According to Kolkata Police Commissioner Gautam Mohan Chakravarty this is an accident not a bomb blast.
India is going through a tensed situation with recent terror attacks in the country including series blasts at Jaipur, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. However, local police reassured Kolkata residents that the situation was under control.
On 30th June, Kolkata also known as Calcutta had been placed on high alert after an e-mail from the terrorist group ‘India Mujahideen’ to a TV channel and other media houses warned of blasts at the Calcutta High Court and at a top private hospital.
