Note: I performed a test, This is what this Test Says. Google Bot can crawl Upto 76 Characters of a title tag.
We had a discussion earlier on Optimizing Title Tags and Rand did a similar post Best Practices for Title Tags. There were many discussions about limiting the titles to 65 or a max of 70 in past as Google ignores beyond that limit.
About This Experiment:
Performed this experiment over a junk domain (bookmarkingservice.info) never used that domain earlier, however this is a old domain but I suppose domain age have nothing to do with this experiment.
Okay here are the test results:
Search “bndhfycjoghetyu 12″ with and without quote.
For both query You will get
www.bookmarkingservice.info/Supplier_Exporter_Product_Images/bndhfycjoghetyu/ as a search result.

I’m sure it is counting beyond 70 characters this is what I can conclude after seeing the results of this experiment.
