Yes, Backlinks are The Most Important Factor for Organic Rankings
July 31st, 2008 | by Ankit |I saw a post from Barry, Where Barry said a post from Shimon Sandler is controversial. I’m sure Barry is aware of the fact that Backlinks are really one of the most important factors for organic rankings.
Backlinks are still the most important factors, I have done an experiment about this few months back and m still ranking for the targetted keyword for a blank page. (I know this is pure BlackHat technique .. but the test was done just to check the results and I got the expected results.)
I’m with JohnHGohde and Barry this is not SEO this is what we can call SERT (Search Engine Ranking Trick) or SEM (search engine marketing) which includes all other factors including like link building .. etc.
Let me give a live example on how linkbulding is not always blackhat look at this query (http://www.google.com/search?q=search+engine).
Altavista is #1 without using the term engine and this is not at all blackhat because it is a search engine and really worth having a rank for the keyword Search Engine, So I believe if you are going to Build backlinks for a website ask your self 2 simple questions …
#1 Do my site really worth rank for that keyword ?
#2 Will it help the visitor to find the Stuff Visitor is looking for ?
If your answer is Yes, then you can continue with the linkbuilding!! Its not blackhat !!
Shimon was not talking about Blackhat and was right about what he was saying .. “What if you have a client that has difficulty implementing changes you recommend? What if he/she is restricted (for whatever reason) from making any real meaningful changes to the source code?”
Yes, onsite optimization is like planting the seeds, and link building is the nourishing rains that will produce the harvest.
So it’s like: Good Seeds + Good Rain = Good Harvest
