This tag is quite OLD introduced by Google in 2006. Google generates completely automated descriptions (snippets) that appear under a page in the search results. This process includes content on the page as well as references to that page that appear on other websites.
Open Directory Project, or ODP is also among one of the source Google generate Snippets. However some webmasters dont want search engines to use ODP for generating snippets… and for those webmasters noodp tag is introduced.
Below code will direct all search engines supporting the noodp meta tag not to use Open Directory Project or ODP information for the page’s description:
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOODP">
I’m not sure if any other search engine instead of Google and MSN is using this …
To direct Google Bot from using this inf to describe a page, use the below code:
<META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="NOODP">

Okay these are some simple and basic steps need to be followed by every Webmaster and Bloggers so as to make there website or blogs search engine friendly.
- Remember Google dnt care about the link depth (i.e. the number of slashes in your permalink won’t matter) So provide search engines with something good and related to the page.
- The file extension doesn’t matter and never considered a factor while ranking- You can choose any extension like .. php, html, htm, asp .. You can even use ankit as your extension.. but don’t use something like .exe extension.
- Use around 2-3 word long ALT tag description with images. Also check this: Using ALT attributes smartly
- To separate words use, dashes, hyphens are OK but spaces are considered bad.
- Don’t mix match backlinks with www and non-www.
- Make sure that the post creation dates are not difficult to find.
- Using full-text RSS will help in finding loyal users, You can get more page views using partial feeds but not that much of love in comparison to full-text RSS.
- Don’t include the post date in your URL.
If you have any doubt or suggestion about the above points feel free to leave me a comment.

As a SEO Consultant this is one of the question I come across very often that How to Unban From Google Search.
Just have a look at this thread on dp:
Anyway to verify if you are banned?
This guy registered a deleted domain which was banned by google. Now the problem is how to get unbanned ??
Well it is very easy to get unban from google search just Follow these steps…
- Check your website twice or thrice and make it sure that it meets to Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.
- Remember, a human reviewer from Google.Com will inspect your website personally. If they will find something objectionable they will not only reject your application but also your chances of getting back into Google will be reduced.
- Once you have verified and checked your website .. if it agree to Google Webmasters Guidelines, Just Sign Up for Google Webmasters Tool and verify your website.
- Once your website gets verified submit a reconsideration request. (This can be found under Tools, click Request reconsideration and follow the simple steps).
- Then wait.
